Jon Sloven

 

Jon Sloven, originally from Denver, began his formal dance training at Colorado College where he received his BA in economics and business with a double minor in music and dance. His dance career ignited at the University of Arizona where he earned an MFA in choreography and performance and received the Most Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award. Jon's professional career has spanned from Denver to Chicago to Kiel, as a company member with Thodos Dance Chicago premiering roles in works by Ann Reinking and Lucas Crandall, Same Planet Different World premiering roles by Joanna Rosenthal and Ashleigh Leite, and Wats-on-Dance premiering roles by Sam Watson. His time with Kim Robards Dance allowed him the opportunity to perform at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Jon is an internationally recognized dance educator throughout the USA and Germany teaching at universities and elite dance academies as well as a flourishing, award-winning choreographer, creating works for Ballet Nouveau Colorado, Tubingen University, Colorado College and the pre-professional dancers of The Joffrey Ballet Chicago. As the guest choreographer for the past 3 years at College of DuPage, Jon joined the faculty this past fall acting as Artistic Director for the Dance Program as well as teaching ballet, jazz and modern.
