Water Based Mud (WBM)

 

Phoenic C&W WBM Essences is a cost-effective, water-based drilling fluid system specially formulated to drill lateral, extended reach and directional wells with the stability, speed and performance of oil-based mud. Tested in the lab and proven in the field, the WBM Essences system consistently matches or outperforms oil-based systems and delivers the results operators expect. The WBM Essences can be used in any shale reservoir and is designed to prevent sloughing shale and borehole enlargement, thereby maintaining overall wellbore integrity. The WBM Essences system often has lower circulating and bottom-hole temperatures than oil-based systems, improving the reliability and extending the life of drilling tools.

The WBM Essences system:

• Controls clay hydration and swelling to prevent sloughing or heaving shale.

• Reduces pore pressure transmission to minimize formation destabilization.

• Penetrates and seals micro fractures to avoid fluid invasion into the wellbore.

• Prevents the accumulation of CO2 gas for more stable fluid properties.

• Enhances lubricity and increases rates of penetration by:

1) Enabling the delivery of greater hydraulic horsepower to the drill bit.
