What is Respite Stay?

A break for everyone.

Although providing care to our elderly family member can be rewarding, there's no denying that it's also a lot of work.

Here at Le Parc, we understand you need a break every now and then. We also understand that it's difficult to leave your loved one with just anyone; you need to feel good about the people with whom you are entrusting them. That's where Le Parc Safe Haven comes in.

A few days or a month – or maybe they'll decide to stay.

Respite care allows families to take time away to care for their own needs. Respite stays can range from a few days to a couple of months, allowing you to take a short break, a long vacation or a business trip. And who knows? Your elderly family member may need some time away from you as well, to recharge and spend time with their peers.

These short stays are also an option for seniors who may have recently been discharged from the hospital. They may need extra assistance, and we at Le Parc are happy to help.

You can also think of a respite stay as a test drive – many of our now-permanent residents have tried Le Parc by staying as a respite guest. When it was time to leave, they decided to make Le Parc their home instead.

Before respite guests begin their stay at Le Parc, we ask a lot of questions – from medication and sleeping preferences to favorite foods and hobbies. This helps us plan the appropriate services and care for each individual. Most importantly, it also lets us get to know each guest as a person, rather than just as a visitor.
